Cheapest way to kill half acre of weeds/grass/everything?

Need to knock down the weeds and grasses encroaching up on fish camp, way too many black widows crawling around amongst it and too good of cover for snakes and mice too. Ground is shell/sand mix. I'm figuring some sort of weed killer spray but don't want to spend hundreds to find out it doesn't work or needs multiple applications. Thought about getting some sort of rake to drag behind a 4 wheeler but figured I'd ask and see what other folks have had success with.

They make a thing called a weed wiper that you can oull behind a 4 wheeler or something. What it is is a roller that has carpet all around it and nozzles spray your weed killer all over the roller than as your driving the roller is turning the oppisite dirrection your driving which is done with a belt from the wheel to the roller. Anyways it wipes the weed killer onto the weeds killimg them all. Without all the nasty overspray from the wind.

Yep, I've used gly. Seems to do fairly well on poison ivy, just have to keep re applying.

I have been using weed killer with 41% glyphosate, weed eat or mow, repeat as needed , reapply if the weeds are thick. Then after things are cleared, regular maintenance as needed.
