(or positional vertigo) You have little crystals - like tiny rocks - in your inner ear that roll around across hairlike sensors sending signals to the brain, telling you where you are in space. When those little rocks get out of whack you don't know whether you are upside down or sideways, hence the dizziness and nausea. Sometimes they get back to where they are supposed to be on their own after a few days. Sometimes a doctor will perform some gyrations on your head in an attempt to reposition those crystals. Vertigo can also be caused by a virus or some more serious conditions but it sounds like they ruled that out.

Both times I fully was back to normal activity after a few days but I still have to be careful about certain head movements. I can't lay down with my head lower than my body (like on a decline press bench). I also have to be careful about tilting my head straight back too far or I get dizzy. Hopefully yours will be a short-lived problem!

Jerp. this process is what they are trying, I have been back as of this writing 2 times to a Therapist, and it was so bad, I almost passed out on the first, the second time, I was still nauseated, and feeling like I was tossed in a roller for 30 minutes. Someone above mentioned it also, they are telling me because of the damage to canal, it could take a while longer... thanks all for your prayers, its hard to even shower right now..

Man, I feel for you - it is a scary, helpless feeling that is hard to fully describe. Praying for healing!

I've had it a couple of times. Found this video and have used this technique. Worked for me. You might try it.

                I wonder if it's Meniere's disease:

Meniere disease (idiopathic endolymphatic hydrops) is an inner ear disorder. Learn the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and breakthrough treatment of Meniere's disease.

                Hope you are well soon.

                Regards,

That ear stuff is crazy. Hope you get to being better, I did a one and a half flip off a diving board some years back and hit my ear flat against the water. Popped my ear drum. Swam to ladder with world spinning, stood up wobbly and almost fell and then all of a sudden the horizon planed out and got level and I had my equilibrium back. Was a weird experience. Could barley hear out of that ear, it leaked clear fluid and couldn't sleep from the pain that night.

Good video...details BPPV well. The goal of those home exercises is to induce the vertigo and forces the vestibular system to habituate. This occurs naturally over time as one person pointed about previous. The demo in the above video just accelerates the resolution of the symptoms. Just remember that vertigo is a symptom of something else and not a diagnosis.
