    PVC tubes on 4 wheelers.

A member of my lease in east Texas has seen several ATV's lately with PVC tubes attached to the racks. He said that these tubes have a screw plug on one end and a cap on the other. Obviously this is to store something and keep it dry. The way he described them they are about three feet wide and probably 4" PVC.

Anyone have a clue what these are far in particular or are they just for whatever? He has seen so many lately that he thought that maybe there was a piece of hunting equipment in particular that was being stored but maybe it is just a general container for nothing in particular.

You may have been seeing some "Snorkled" atv's. They attach the pipes to different hoses and intakes on the atv's to be able to go into the deep water without milking the motor or tranny.

Those were popular a while back around here. I have seen all the way up to 6" pipe. It is a section of pipe the length of the width of the ATV and strapped to the rack or under the basket. You attach a removeable plug to each end, a sewer cleanout is what is really is and you can store all the things you want to keep dry in there since it is usually so wet around here.

A snorkled ATV has 2-3" pipes rising up through the front racks near the headlight usually and will allow you to tread into a little deeper water if that is your cup of tea. I am not into making my ATV into a submarine.

Adding to that last point, be very leary purchasing a used ATV that is equipped with snorkels, I would steer clear of any if it was me.

I know what you mean about being wet. I am in Port Arthur right now. So maybe just general storage and nothing in particular? I figured maybe arrows but there aren't that many bowhunters on or near our lease so I was wondering.

have seen them used for storage of : topo maps, raingear, tow ropes, come-a-longs, paper towels, gloves, tools, bottled water, flashlights, spare batteries, binoculars, food, etc.....

it is no different than a cargo rack or basket, yet keeps things dry.

Often mounted on the front or rear rack of ATV
