    Fishing in Kemah

Does anyone know if there is good fishing near the Kemah boardwalk? I will have access to a small bay boat but don't feel too comfortable venturing too far from the boardwalk.

    Also, any recommendation on bait/lures?

Yes there is. Depending on the weather and tide, just the other side of the big bridge is toddville road. There is a small bridge there that has a nice channel running under it that puts a serious amount of water in and out of clear lake. This holds trout, reds and mostly in the season, flounder.

Also, off toddville, bay side, on both sides of that channel are flats that have tons of old pilings and oyster shell that can hold trout. Opposite side of the bridge is a lagoon that has some great grass flats that hold tailing reds all the time. Can't get a boat in the lagoon but it's wadable with little problem.

All along the shoreline is fantastic fishing both above and below the Kemah boardwalk. Lots of structure so go slow and pay attention.

If you wanna wrestle big uglies, the channel is a great place for drum, cats and the occasional shark.

Clear Lake itself can hold some fantastic trout and slot reds. There are a few lights on the lake that are accessible to fish 24/7.

The only problem right now is the rain and fresh water pushing down from all the bayous.

As for lures, silver spoons are always nice, live or artificial shrimp under a popping cork, live croaker(if you like cheating), I have fantastic success with Chickenboy lures in chartreuse and brown and dark purples from.

Please, please, please stop in at Marburgers and pick up a local chart, Gavlbay is a treasure trove of messed up **** that likes to kill boats.
