Check Flash question on older Moultrie camera

I have an older Moultrie camera. I think it is the 3.1 MP 200 model ???

the other night, it gave me a messgae that said --- Check flash ----

Other than, it not being a good sign... anyone know what I can do to fix?

it looked to take a picture while I was setting it up, just NO flash. I saw the counter going down.

if worse comes to worse, it will be a daytime camera only.

the pictures are better than the new D200 4.0 MP cameras.

    thanx,

    David

I had that message and called Moultrie. They said that the flash capacitor had gone out. You can turn the flash off and get daytime only pics. If you leave the flash on the camera will try to power up the capacitor over and over and drain your battery. I looked into changing the capacitor, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. They're only a couple of bucks and if you can solder, it should be easy, just make sure you're careful draining the capacitor. There's stories out there of guys getting really zapped by those things. By the way, I really like that old camera. It takes great pics.
