    Check engine light no code?

I had a code p0139 for my 02 sensor I changed it finally 2 days ago.. Cleared the code by taking off the battery cable. Today the light came on again so I pulled over to check the code. With a dodge you can do that on the dash with a key cycle. So at first it popped up with the code.. When I got back to work I checked again 3 times and there was no code anymore But light is still on.. Any ideas?

Probably need a code reader to clear it.

I have an 09 Hummer H3 that when the battery cables come loose over time, it spews out random codes. Just a thought. I need to just break down and buy some new cables but it has other issues that need to be dealt with first.

I have my code reader here at the house Troy and can reset it for you.

The dodge doesn't always show the code on the dash. You may need a scan tool to read and erase.

OK so I used a scanner and it showed 3 stored code all the same p0139 I was able to clear 2 of them but would not let me clear the third.. I dont know why.. The light went off and came back on today.. I did check where I had teh cat replaced with soapy water and saw a few tiny bubbles.. i am going to take it back tomorrow and have the weld it a little more.. Any ideas what is causing this code to keep coming back?

Does your truck have more than one O2 sensor? Does it just have one catalytic converter?

HAs 2 cats and 2 o2 sensors but that code is just for the bank 1 sensor 2 and I replaced both.

You should have 4 O2 sensors, two before cat, two after. Which ones did you replace?

Theres 2 diffarnt cats only 1 on the bank 1 side and 1 after the cat on bank 1 side its the down stream sensor that is what I replaced. Its teh driver side.

Put a piece of electrical tape over it. Problem solved!

Taking the cables off the battery to clear the code is only a very temporary solution. The codes will come back the majority of the times. Clearing them w an engine scanner can do the same thing. The best thing to do is drive it for a few days and let the computer reset itself and then the light will go off if the problem is solved
