I haven't posted an update in a while. Mainly cause there wasn't much to update about. But now we have some movement and I thought that I should post something. If yall haven't seen my older posts I'll summarize.
In February I had a major back surgery to remove a tumor on my spinal cord. It turned out to be Ewings Scarcoma... I am a VERY rare case due to the tumor location/presentation and my age(27) Ewings is typically considered a cancer seen in children. I did 5 weeks of radiation and after they gave me a 4 week break it is time to start looking at chemo...
This last week I went in for a procedure to put a port in to receive chemotherapy from. This is nothing strange, but my port is a little different than most of the ports people I know have had put in. Mine is in my skull. I will be receiving intrathecal Chemo. This means the chemo will go directly into my brain through the port in my skull. I will have this chemo for the next 2-3 months, then I will go on a more traditional regimen for about 5 months after that. I have a lot of scans in the next week to stage the tumor again. Lots of prayers this week that the scans come up clean again. Glad to be moving forward, and hopefull for a set of clean scans
My "scan-xiety" is crazy high right now... it would be HUGE to have 2 sets in a row of clean tumor free scans, but I'm worried. Yesterday my lower back started acting weird... I am worried it may be the beginnings of a secondary tumor... praying it isn't so, I was in super high spirits until this, and I'm ready to get the scans to find out if I just tweaked it or what.
Any good vibrations yall can send my way or any quiet words whispered in the big guys ears mean more than you can imagine.
