Copy/pasting all or part of the description of a listing into Google eliminates a lot of scams because they will often spam the same posting over multiple regions.

I am now looking for an RV to replace the one I lost to a tornado and have sent several emails and texts to about a dozen different listings. The first one was, "HI I am so and so and need you to email me as I cannot use this phone for personal calls." I email and then the scam really starts. I am in the military and will be shipped out on so and so and need to sell this unit by whenever. I say fine. the trailer is located in Ft. Hood and I tell her I will drive down and give her the cash and pick up the trailer and title. She says it is on a military bas and has to be delivered. I say fine deliver it to my Mom's place in Temple and I will meet you and give you the money and get the trailer and title. The next email says "who the #### is your Mom?". I tell them in no uncertain terms to shove the scam and her head where the sun don't shine and I am turning this number and email over to my BIL who is a Detective on the Waco Police Dept. The next email I get is "K" and it is over. I guess when I mention a BIL that is a detective (TRUE) they panic.
Just received another text saying the EXACT same thing the first lady sent except for a change on the name and email address. I sent her a summary of the last exchange and funny thing is I have not heard a word back from this person.
Also, I like the ones that want to sell for $2050 or $2001 for a 2015 or 2016 model and the phone number to call is in BFE and not even close to the trailer location.
Do people actually fall for this? And is there not something you can do about turning this over to someone on CL or do they even care?

I'm sure they hear that all the time. It certainly hasn't stopped them in the past....
Had another text reply with the same scenario this morning. Told them what I was going to do, no more replies! The BIL scenario or me telling them to take the scam and shove it must be working.

I'm betting the shove it part is the winner

About 10 years ago I bought a new-used Suburban off Craigslist. I delt local and did well. Still have the truck.
But when I was looking I saw one of these guys selling a nice one for a few grand under list If I'd send 4 Grand to his E-Bay Escrow acct. he'd have his shipper send it to me. If I didn't like it they'd take it back. Yeah, right. I strung this guy along for a week after I bought my truck. When I told him I wanted it but had time and miles to fly out there, see it, send him the money. Last I heard from him. I posted all of this here as it happened.
Not 2 years later a member here fell for it and it cost him 4 grand.

I was selling something on there the other day and I had a guy contact me. He said he was on a rig off shore but wanted to send me a cashier check if I would just give him my address. He said when the cashiers check cleared, he would come get it. I just told him to just bring cash when he came to pick it up. That's when he gave me the whole off shore story. I don't know what he was trying to do except maybe get my address so he could steal my identity or something. At any rate, I just told him I wasn't interested in doing that and would not give him my name and address. Right after that, I made sure I took my number off the ad.

I mess with the scammers all the time. I had one texting me back and forth the other day. I finally said "you are not a very good scammer" and he said "do you have any tips for me" "yeah, just read what you texted me and you should be able to figure it out!"
