will it work? light bar on pig stand

settin up a bow box blind for my dad, he uses a cross bow. got the box set up about 20 yds from the feeder. was thinkin about hookin up a 36" LED light bar on the stand facing towards the feeder. was thinkin about coloring the lens red and running the light off a car battery. gonna put a light switch inside the stand so I can flip on the light of death when the pigs show up. figured I could keep the battery hot with a solar charger from Harbor Freight.

if things work out with the battery, im gonna install a 12v fan inside the stand.

    whatcha think?

In for this one. Sounds like a good idea. Those light bars can drain a battery faster than I would've thought, but couldn't tell you the amp draw offhand.

LEDS don't draw that much, do they?

The amp draw should be on the packaging shouldn't it? Could you use a smaller solar panel that was for home use?

LED's don't draw much. Batteries should stay charged with a good solar panel being that they will only be used intermittently. No reason to color the lens as red covers for light bars are sold for them for only a few bucks. Keep us posted.

I have "the kill light" feeder light. It works great. That being said yours will work too. Several years (20 ish) ago I had trailer brake lights installed above my feeder. I ran the wires over to my tree stand and had a battery at the base of the tree. I had a toggle switch up the tree with me, and just turned it on when I could hear the hogs feeding in front of me.

I would definitely look into some sort of trickle type charger to help keep the battery from getting ruined. Or one that might automatically switch to a trickle charger after the battery is fully charged.

Why would you do all that? Put a Sniper Hog Light on his bow and he has a light for every stand and situation.

                    Listen to these people.

Or instead of the light mounted to his xbow, can get his feeder light

The kill light from ewt isn't near as bright as the sniper one

My hogs at both places spook whenever I try to use a shooter-activated light, no matter which direction I try and come from, no matter how slowly, no matter the color. So, I use the photocell activated lights like this:

4 of them give you enough light to shoot w/scope from 125 yds away easy. Just remember to set them up on a pole between blind and feeder -- not in your eyes and not across the shooting lane as shadows can be a bit confusing that way.

It will take the hogs a long time to get used to that beaming lightbar.

I did the same- I just haven't put them on this summer yet. Just snagged a couple of sets @ harbor freight. Worked great.

Will they be able to see it if its a red light?
