I had my last Chicken Fry in Olney Cafe, it was real, it was thick, and it was good, best Ive had lately... the owner trys her best to male sure you never leave hungry......

Where is this? Is this the place on the south side of town that used to be a Mexican joint? I haven't hunted there in a couple of years but Olney Cafe was not in business when I did, that I recall?

NOPE. Nothing but big cities listed there and we all know that aint where the best CFS comes from. Give me small town café any day over those.

About 25 years ago there was a place called the cow Poke café in either Evant, or Adamsville. On Sundays they had chicken fried steak, three sides, dessert, and Iced tea for like five bucks and it was phenomenal..

George's is hard to beat.

Hill's Café in south Austin. Pan fried with yeller gravy.

Had a very good one yesterday at Hays County Store. Real gravy the way you make at home. Not come white cream gravy.

George's in Waco? It's bar food, lol. If talking about another George's, then I'm all ears!

EVERY time I have to travel to and from Abilene on business I always stop at Mary's. You just have to. And EVERY time I've eaten there it is pretty dang good. I can definitely see why it is at the top of the list.

As others have said for greater Houston. Mel's and goodsons both in Tomball but goodsons isn't as good as it used to be but still rides that reputation.....the original hickory hollow in Houston beats goodsons (now anyway, goodsons used to be the best around) in my opinion but it's been a long time since I've been there. Not sure if it's still good. Surprised it's name hasn't come up with so many people from houston

There was a steak house, bar and grill in Canadian, in front of a motel on the 2nd floor, that had outstanding steak fingers! I haven't been up there in years but they were the best I ever had.

Are you talking about the Cattle Exchange? They have great food for sure, always had a steak not cfs. They are also known for their bread pudding, it's good too but not near as good as my moms
