I ain't gonna say that The Fish Pond in New Waverly has the best CFS in the state, but I will definitely be making it a regular stop for us since it's just a few miles from the house. Excellent food and friendly service

Old Grist Mill in Gruene, Tx. is up there. Johnny Rebs (I think they changed the name-stupid libs) in Hearne, it may not count becasue it is a. closed, and B. a chain, but Lonestar Cafe' had great cfs.

Huts in Austin also makes a pretty solid cfs

I think you are talking about the Dixie cafe. Big confederate flag painted on the bldg. In Hearne. Its still there. Looks like they dropped the Stars and Bars though.
