Best thing you can do when looking to spend that kind of $$ is go rent each of them from Capps for the Chevy and Enterprise trucks for the Ford and Ram. Throw out all of your bias and drive them for a weekend like you intend to use them.
I did this and ended up with the Ram. All of them have more power than most of us will ever use so then it comes down to the little details about what you like and don't like.
The Ram will get better mileage than the Ford or Chevy by a noticeable margin.

I have a F150 4x4 XLT with 250,000 gas
still going, picked up a 2010 F250, 6.4 diesel
sold it motor was a6.4 , nuff said
traded it in for 2016 F250 6.7 diesel
this one is great, but after I got it the 2017 started to come out.
WOW !, I like the 2017, I'm on the fence to trade it in for a 2017
before I go out and put the full bumper and lift kit
and I looked at some Dodges 1500 diesel and the 2500 diesels
just the dealership I went to was just so bad, we were just talking to a sales guy in the open, people were coming in ****** off about something, and another guy just walked out and the sales man calling out for him
I went with the Ford

I've read a few threads on it on a Ram forum, this one will probably cover it.
According to what I've read and going off memory-
You can get it as the original owner as long as the vehicle is below 44,000 miles- and buying over the phone from some out of state dealer will save you a lot of money.
If this link doesn't work, just search the Ram truck forums for it.

I agree its a toss up. I love my F250 and it was a first run 2011. I probably wont get rid of it until it dies.
These days, Id just look for the best value and it's probably Dodge. These trucks are so dang expensive these days. Dodge seems to have a lower price for the same options. I just cant imagine spending $60k on a truck these days. My 2006 4x4 Dodge 2500 cost me $32k. Now a days its $50k

I went with a 2017 Ford F-250. I have 8000 miles since December. I love it. It's the ultimate package lariat. Honestly ram was a close second. My buddy purchased a ram about the same time. I like both to be honest. Ford had some nicer stuff due to recent redesign. Radar cruise, 7 cameras, panaromic roof and the power fold mirrors. Like someone mentioned, the little things. All are powerful. Chevy/GMC in my mind could not compete. They are cramped for passengers in the rear, have no A/C, they are so low they look like they are lowered. But just test drive them. RAMs are nice though.

Cost of decked out truck + huge lift + wheels/ tires + delete & tuner+ air horns+ Methane injection + Lord knows what else.
Some people don't mind spending the money, but they usually have the money to spend so it's no big deal to do so.

Wow, what a read. I have a 2006 Ram 2500 Mega cab, 2 wheel drive with about 140K miles on it. The only problem I have had was the injector line on the number 4 cylinder broke and stranded me with my 5th wheel on the truck. Other than that it has been great. I guess any of them have the potential to have problems, but mine was built before all of the emissions stuff so I have been lucky in that respect. Just looking at the cost of the new trucks, I think I'll try and make mine last as long as I can.

Bumping this back up because I'm in the market again myself. GMC has rear AC so I'm not concerned about that. To the guys driving the new Rams, how is the ride? The one Ford F-250 I had rode horribly stiff. I'm debating between the ram and a gmc denali. Does the coil suspension make the ride that much better on the new dodges?

It's still a HD truck. If you want the TPMS light turned off on your dash it will ride a little stiffer feeling than it should. They require 80 psi in the rears, because RAM thinks people are too stupid to run proper air pressure while towing I guess.
But all it all, the rear coil springs will save your kidneys. I believe the GM trucks ride Cush too because they softened the rear suspension for mall cruisers. But put a little weight on the back and it'll squat to the ground.Last edited by 12RingKing; 07-02-2017, 07:05 PM.
