    weird kill positions

whats the weirdest position an animal has been in when you shot them?

last year hunting Illinois I had seen a nice buck chasing a doe one afternoon near dark but I still had a few minutes before climbing down. shortly later I heard something walking behind me and looked to see a doe but nothing following, she came within about 40 yards and laid down broadside, tucked her head down near her front feet and didn't move. not wanting to scare her or any other deer around I decided I needed to kill her! so I ranged her at 42 yards and let her have it while laying down, needless to say there was no tracking involved as she didn't move after the shot!

Killed a hog once, trailed him about 20 yards and found him dead about 4' up in a small mesquite tree

Not my kill, but my brother. He was in a tree and shot a doe...just as he released, she turned her head back to lick or bite an itch on her side...the arrow pinned her head against her chest. Another very short track job.

            Wow!

I shot a coyote that was sprawled out on the ground one time, but nothing that cool.

I shot a doe with a rifle that was facing away from me. About 80 yards away and had her rear end facing me. She lowered her head to eat corn and I shot her in the throat blowing her head almost completely off.

A friend head shot a doe. She had her head between her legs and exited top of her head.

My grandfather was hunting with a crossbow several years ago. He had a buck feeding in front of him at 20 yards. As he pulled the trigger on the crossbow the buck raised his head and looked at my grandfather. The bolt went right between the bucks eyes, and dropped him in his tracks.

Shot a doe a couple of years ago that had her head down eating corn. Moved her front leg forward just as I shot. Entrance through right knee cap, then passed through top of her neck/base of skull and finally made a perfect .300 piercing in her offside ear.

When I was 12 I was taking a nature dump and spotted a squirrel sprawled on a Cypress limb sleeping. Shot him from the squat position with my pants down- probably my weirdest kill position.

Not a weird position, but weird result. Shot a doe standing broadside, bullet hit a bone, probably the shoulder or a rib, traveled up the bone, traveled down the top of the spine and exited the rear right above her tail. Blew out a hole about 6-8 inches around, all kinds of inside stuff pouring out the hole. She ran about 300 yards before dying.

Another one that's more of a weird result than position:

One time in south Texas...I shot at a hog standing under a feeder. The arrow passed through and ricocheted up into the mesquite above the feeder. The hog ran in a big circle around the clearing and crashed into the tree under the feeder. He fell over dead, and the crashing into the tree knocked the arrow loose. When I walked up to him, the arrow was laying perfectly on top of his side pointed the same direction he was facing. I couldn't have laid the arrow on him any better.
