I have been running E's for the past few years. I do load heavy at times. Especially just before and during the season. I pull a welding rig from time to time also. The heavier tires don't have the squishy feeling. I air them down a little for a softer ride(50psi). But if im towing my trailer its 80 psi. The ride is rough at 80psi. Plus with the extra plies. I haven't had any tire punctures at the lease. I had two side wall blow out with load range C tires due to rocks.
I will never have anything less than 10ply again.

LT 265/70/17 Load range E tires need 50-55 psi to equal factory P rated tire load capability. if you get outside the psi to load figures the tire can build too much heat and be damaged or fail. The tread chalk test is fine for contact area review but has nothing to do with psi to load rating.
