    boat build - need advice

Working up an order on a majek extreme. This boat will replace a 21 year old hull, so we don't do this often. Looking for advice on things you saltwater boat owners are keen on (pros and cons). Today's question is powder coat or anodized aluminum on all piping frames.

Would appreciate any/all tips you might offer.

I personally do not like powder coating on items that could get dinged up. If it chips it can be difficult to patch and blend.

My buddy has had a couple of 22 extremes and can tell you a lot about them. His handle on 2cool is RedXCross if you want to venture over there.

Powder coat looks good if you have enough other stuff to complement it. I.e. seats, hull trim etc. Just grab rails and around the seats not so much.

I've never owned it on a boat but I'd think it would be fairly hard to chip it.

i worked at a boat shop and i would go the polished aluminum the powder coat will corrode and get under the powder coat then flake off and it tends to get chaulky after awhile and n the sun

Have you thought about bed liner material. If it chips off just reapply. I personally like the bare aluminum look on my boat.

I've seen a lot of this.

It looks good when new though. My brothers rig is gray, with a mercury motor and a lot of black powderived coated aluminum. It's starting to bubble up though.
