U Build It or Help U Build

Has anyone ever used one of these companies or a similar company on new home construction?

    #2
They will always be dependent on each office. Some are good, some are bad. I have spoken to Ubuildit in Fort Worth and they seem to be more hands on than other places but you pay for it too. They want $6/sq foot under roof. I'd ask any company for some of their clients and ask them how it went.

Landover build his house with a similar company

I have 3 friends in Comal County that swear by U Build it and Help U Build. They are talking about saving anywhere between 25 to 50 dollars per foot. 50 seems a little much, but who am I to say

I have never heard of them before, but it sounds interesting after doing some reading.

That would be great. Ubuildit told me to plan on $118/sqft using their service for a higher end home.

Did you get a comparable quote from a turn key custom builder for comparison?

not yet. Those were just quick numbers in a sit down. We havent actually nailed down a floor plan. At that price, we are out. I wanted to be sub $100/ft

You might still make that $100 ft number. It's gonna depend on your land and spec level. Also how well you can negotiate with your trades. A lot of times when they say "high-end" they have fluff in there for stuff you would NEVER spend that much money on. Like $40k on appliances and $9 per sf for hardwood floors. Your best bet is to work up a floorplan and build a spreadsheet. Talk to people in the area that you know who are framers, concrete guys etc. and try to come up with a sticks and bricks number... you'll probably be surprised. Also, builders I've talked to down here is SE Texas want $120 per sf which is hwy robbery. I talked to another guy who would do it for $105 and he was still going to make $40k off me.

I've got 2 quotes back so far from custom builders and the bare bone minimum is starting at 150/ft. Still waiting from a builder in SA. Hopefully their hungrier.

I just finished mine two months ago that I built myself. 3500 sqft custom home well equipped for right at $103 per. Lumber is a little higher now but I would think you could keep it under 105.
