    Can Am Defender?

I've already read through all the threads I could find on the Can Am Defender. Most of them were either discussions about them before they even hit the market, or were a few folks who had just bought one right after they came out.

So, now that they've been out for about a year, how are they performing? Considering pulling the trigger on one, but want to know if y'all have had any problems and general reviews of the machine before I take the plunge.

Thanks in advance for the input!

Only experience I have with them is a hunting buddy that bought one last year. He is horrible on equipment. Never services anything and goes wide open all the time. He stays in the Mississippi delta and it has been on 32" tire since day one and has been 100% problem free as has his can am atv

They are crazy expensive but nothing else is even close in real world performance. They will honestly go in 2wd easily where I have to winch out my rincon in 4wd pedal to the metal

Is this a Defender you're talking about or a Can Am 4 wheeler? Is ask just because you're comparing it to your Honda 4 wheeler.

A friend of mine has a defender 1000. Seems well built and runs like a scalded ape.
        Rides nice too.

Defender. He traded his commander for defender and also owns their 1000cc atv

Guy on the lease has one. Other than the price tag, it's a well built tank and I wish I had one.

Cool. Thanks for the input fellas. I'm still looking for some input from actual owners. Any regrets with this machine?

I'm between this and the new 1000 ranger crew. Still need to go drive one but I've read nothing but good about the can am.

The only downsides I've found are aftermarket accessories are more limited than the Polaris and the lack of a front locking differential. There is an aftermarket locker for the front though.

In for responses too. I'm looking at Mule Pro FXT but considered Defender too. Pricey for sure and not sure if the 3yr Kaw warranty can be beat.

Just bought one last week from Jones Power Sports in Durant Oklahoma. Looked at them all and drove them all. The defender was best by far with ride quality, warranty and the layout of the machine resembles a truck cab. Multiple dealers recommended the Can Am over the other manufacturers

We have one with about 50 hours on it. The Defender HD10. My buddy has the comparable ranger and says this one drives better and has incredible power. I have not driven anything else for comparison so I can't speak to that.

The torque is unbelievable. Haven't had it in the mud yet but have put it under heavy load dragging things like fallen trees. It's a beast.

                      Only concerns:
Its a high tech machine and will be expensive to repair when the time comes.

Scary power for my teen age kids to drive without me present. Kids will be kids and that thing will hurt'em.

With the CVT transmission you have to remember to put it in low when doing anything major or you can really mess it up. Easy for me to remember just have to remember to tell others.

All in all we'd buy it again in a heartbeat. I'm not worried about lack of accessories since I probably won't be adding any.

I've been looking at them hard. Went and priced and drove the HD8 a few weeks ago. All I can say is as soon as I get re-employed I will be trading my ranger for one ASAP. Seems like a superior machine IMO.

I haven't driven the HD8 yet. I've taken a quick test drive on an HD10. I liked it alot.
