My mom and dad's old house on Pioneer Drive there in Abilene had a under ground bomb shelter that had 4 bunk beds in it. You could probably get 15-20 people in it for a short period of time.
Every time a storm came up there were 4 neighbors that would be in it. They didn't have to ask. I lived there for 20 years my folks lived there for 30 years and none of us never got in it.

Thank them for their service? Hell you can do better than that from that high horse! After you stop shakin' your head, offer to pay for her shelter. Put all us heathens to shame......

I like how everyone says from up north... Looking at that map we get more tornados "up north" then Texas getsthat being said I see no problem with being prepared. We have basements up here but if that's not an option a shelter would be nice on occasion. Nothing like riding out an ef3 in a nice solid concrete basement. The month of clean up after was the worst part...

Funny thing about rattlesnakes and storm cellars out there west of the Brazos.
We have 2 old concrete cellars on the lease in Sterling Co.
Both cellars are where we go look if we need some rattlers to skin and to put on the grille. Summer or winter they just like them big dark holes in the ground.
Mesquite grilled rattlesnake yummmmmmmm
