Legal limit on front two windows is 25%, doesn't include a CMV. Just in case someone was wondering

I got busted with 8 year old tint that read 24% on the meter. driver's window down and was stopped "because it thought your windshield was tinted".

Had the same deal happen on my truck a couple of years back. Same legal tint has been on it since 2011 and when I took it in to the same place as the year before he failed me. I left there and drove straight to a tint shop that also does inspections and had him check it. Passed no problem and this guy had no dog in the fight as the tint was done in another town but he couldn't do my inspection because I was tagged in the system.

Waited 10 days took it to a 3rd shop and it passed no problem, got my sticker/paper and went on about my business.

There is a reason for tint law..Put yourself in a Cops shoes aproaching a car that he can't see into..He could be walking into a Gun Pointed right at him...(These days Ya never Know)

              Not the shop owners fault.
The law changed Jan 1 2017 regarding window tint, third brake lights an mirrors.
We are now required to check tint with a light meter as part of the inspection process.

I know it's a PITA but we gotta do what the man tells us or we get fined.
Not the shop, the individual inspector.

This is why I have a friend in the inspection business. Took a Benjamin to be his friend but it worked.

Been there done that, buddys full size 94 blazer has double layered 5% limo tint on it. Somehow the fuse is blown every time he rolls the windows down when he goes to get it inspected.

Roll the windows down, pull the fuse for the window motors, 100% pass ratio, never fails lol heck he'll plug the fuse back in as hes getting in the car leaving the place

^^^This.... when pulled over at day or night I roll all 4 windows down and turn interior light on (at night)as I have 5% on the back and rear windows and legal on the front. I generally keep hands on top of steering wheel or in easy view for the LEO to see as they approach. I would not feel comfortable walking up on my truck at night with windows up if I was a LEO. I did that job for about 2.5 years about 20 yrs ago and moved onto better things for me.

What's the tint at? Have him show you the number below 25% light transmission on a meter. In Texas driver and passenger window it's 25% and the rest can be any tint.

and so are the road side sniffers on the entrance ramps. I used to go full throttle through them with no cat, no muffler, and I never got a ticket.
