    Trigger thumb- anybody?

I have the classic symptoms, thumb snaps and pops at the joint under the thumbnail, it locks down, painful. Anybody had it? Will this sucker heal on its own? Should I just splint it and see what happens?

I have it. My thumb locks, but is no longer painful. I don't do anything about it. Guess I just know a couple of times a day it's going to do it, but it doesn't bother me.

Yessir, had it BAD! Went to the Memorial Hermann sports clinic near Memorial Mall. The orthopedic guy there gave me an injection in the tendon, and within about 10 days it was gone. He also had me wear a brace on it. In my case, it also resulted in tendinitis in my forearm/elbow (called tennis elbow). I wore a pressure band on my forearm too... as the thumb improved, the forearm/elbow improved. I wore the brace/band for about 3 weeks. After about a month, it was like it was never there.

In my case, it was very painful to the point I could not sleep. A therapist worked on me first (and she was VERY easy on the eyes too ) and explained to me exactly what was happening to cause it. Then she told me about the options for treatment. ... said the steroid shot in the tendon worked about 80+ percent of the time, but if it did not, there is a surgical procedure they could do to correct it. In my case, the shot worked like a champ.

      Dr.'s name is Jafarnia

My wife has had it in every finger on her right hand and one on her left hand. All had to be operated on to fix. The operation takes, literally, 5 minutes.

old thread, but seems like I have have trigger thumb coming on. doesn't lock up if I wear a brace to sleep, but if not it gets pretty painful and takes a bit to work it loose in the morning.

anyone got a good hand doc around dallas for this sort of thing? if I need to get something done, might need to do so sooner rather than later so as not to interfere with the fall......

btw, Jafarnia mentioned above worked on both my parents hands/wrists, sounded like a great doc (need someone around dallas though)
