    Kemah

We never have been to a boardwalk. I honestly just do not care for Galveston and I know it's right around the corner.

Trying to plan a small get away with our 2 daughters and we have kicked this around. Have any of you been and what did you think? I saw where they have their own hotel and it looks pretty nice. Thoughts?

If you go, Tookie's is a good place to eat. Good food and reasonable prices. There are two places almost side by side, one seafood and the other American such as hamburgers etc

There's a lot to do, even a bay boat trip.

We've been a couple times just to stay the night before a cruise.. the only problem with the boardwalk hotel is it's always loud and bright in your room with everything going on.. we're going there in about a month but not staying at the boardwalk

It's an enjoyable venue. Also if you haven't been to Galveston in a few years (since the "Ike" reconstruction), there's now "Pleasure Pier" that is a nice "boardwalk" type of venue... it's an amusement park literally on a pier out over the water (Gulf of Mexico) and is pretty popular.

I was in Kemah this last weekend. Talked with the locals about their recommendations for food, and their two suggestions were Tookie's and Outriggers. We chose Outriggers and enjoyed it. The wife wanted to do a pleasure cruise through the bay, so we did that as well.

Another plus is that they have Uber and Lyft there so we did not have to worry about parking, as we did not have a hotel there on the boardwalk.

Outriggers is great. You can also go a bit further south to San Leon to Topwater Grill which is my preference between the two places.
