ok thanks guys. Im looking at either building or buying feeders for a new lease i think im getting in childress and im thinking it will be alot easier to buy a 1200 pound feeder and not fill it up but once a few months

I got a plan how to make them bigger that I think would work really well if it was welded correctly.

We went through the double stack thing years ago. Pain to fill. If you only have one, I don't guess it's that bad, but when you're going around filling feeders, they'll wear you out. They hold almost 16 with a shallow funnel and slip over lid. We went to 85 gallon barrels. They hold almost 12 with a shallow funnel and slip over lid.

I'd build or buy as big a feeder as I could afford. I'm thinking of buying the Diamond air drive 1000 lber. 20 sacks will last some time and the corn will be directional. I have a 600 lb air drive and it's great.

Yep, double stack barrels are not good, unsafe to fill, a pain to climb, did I unsafe to fill...? When you througha sack on your shoulder adn start climbing you will rmember these words, very unsafe to fill....

Not if you build them right, I built one for a buddy of mine..I'll get some pix next week...but basically I just built a tripod style frame, with a ladder and platform. Inside the frame, I had brackets that dropped down the distance of 2 rings on the drum(20'' +/-). Works good. When you stand on the platform, the barrel top is about chest high....But the best thing I know right now are the Big "A" feeders Academy sells...$269 #600......Throw the timers that come with them away, they are junk...put a good timer and solar panel on them and you are good for several months

I'm right down the road from you, maybe we can work a deal.
How about if I buy the material for the two I want AND enough to build you one, and we can make them together.

Hell I'll even bring some "welding fluid" !!

Let me know if you want to get together and build some stuff.
