USAA Insurance/Banking Users: Time To Drop Them!

Don't know if they treat people different now but back then 2 guys from security would show up at a persons desk with a box and they put their personal items in it and were escorted to their car and had the sticker peeled off window and they were then escorted off the campus. No chance to tell coworkers goodbye even.

Its unfortunate. Thats how all big corporations handle RIFs now. Very unprofessional in my opinion but its all to mitigate liability in court should a term go bad.

I'm struggling with the same thing myself. USAA claims they are just correcting a mistake?

I made a stand during the last election that my spilt blood or my fallen brothers since the inception of this country wouldn't be in vein. At least in my mind for my last days anyway.

Same here. I was eligible in 1979 but didn't join until 1992. I have never had a problem with them. The few times I have had to call them they call me "Captain" . I kinda like that even though I haven't worn a uniform in 25 years. I really couldn't care about what Hannity says and I'm conservative.

I started with them when I was in the military. But, I dropped them a long time ago and am not a fan. They 1st jacked up my home insurance claiming the black mold claims (I never had a claim). Then next year raise again and dropped the black mold coverage. Had also threatened to sue over the ADT plan that I got thru them. That is a long story. We saved a lot when we switched insurance.

Now my sister still uses them. She got on from my father military service. She likes them.

Plenty of reasons to drop, but don't think I'd drop cause they support lefters.

Yep. I have been with them for 31 yrs. Constant increase year upon year.
I finally shopped around and got my vehicle insurance for less than half of my new premium. Same deductibles, same coverage, big company.
                    By By USAA!!!
Plus, I went into the bank here in SA to see about a car loan. They put me in a room on a computer with some jackwagon. It was BS!! I said "nevermind I will just pay cash".
They used to be So Good.

I agree with the people who say how good they used to be. I've had an account with them since the mid 90's. I thought they were awesome until I got married to a woman who shops around for EVERYTHING! We pay roughly half of what they quoted me on homeowners and saved a bundle on auto policies too. In 2015 they quoted me one rate for an auto loan (2.5% I think ) then when I got my first statement I read and saw that it was 4% instead of the lower rate.... I called them and they basically told me to kick rocks. Then last fall my wife logged into our credit card account and set up a payment for two weeks later, she accidentally selected an old checking account I had that literally has .57 cents in it so the payment didn't go through. Once they got ahold of me and told me we were late on the payment I apologized, paid OFF THE CARD, and asked to speak to a manager to make sure it didn't get reported to our credit. The manager refunded me the late fee and said it would be taken care of. Low and behold a month later the wife checked the credit and they reported that payment late. 9 years of marriage and we've never been late or missed a payment on anything! I called USAA and complained, explained the situation, and guess what they said? That's right, go kick rocks!

I only compete against USAA when I'm very expressingly told to do so. Most of the time I tell folks, I respect their company, I respect who they are servicing and generally speaking I don't hear much bad about them, and they are a good fit for you.... but I did recently have a client of mine that was with USAA for 52 years, and they dropped her after an inspection of her property. It reminds me of something I hear quite a bit "I'm grandfathered" or etc.. fact is, any insurance company can change terms/agreements etc. USAA could announce tomorrow that they are no longer insuring homes in Texas.. and guess what? Doesn't matter how long or how loyal, it's over, same with any of these insurance carriers, it's all big business!

In these times folks do that about EVERYTHING! My parents have been with GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Company) for over 60 years as my dad was USAF for 22 years. When Warren Buffet bought it out folks went thru the same twists & turns. I guess when the stock rose thru the roof folks changed their minds.......lol!
