If anybody's going to be on the west coast....

...the weekend after Easter, I just lined up to have my archery club host the CA state archery association regional unmarked 3d shoot on Sunday, April 19. We will shoot our club's already scheduled traditional shoot on Saturday, and then add 2 targets more for Sunday (need 30 3d's) and be hosting it. This will bring the best compound 3d shooters from the area, and already there are some inter-club team challenges being made for a rotating trophy.

These guys shoot a competitive archery clearly a level above mine, but it will be a fun day. For lunch I've volunteered my TBH disc cooker and will be making up fajitas, not sure if I'll bring venison or elk or hogs.

If anybody is out here for some other reason and can join in the fun let me know. For skiers, Easter skiing at Lake Tahoe is about 4 hours away.

I may have to find a reason to be in SF for work around that time!

Bill my mom will be out there in August for the Senior Olympics. She will be shooting in the archery competition. I think it is being held at Stanford.

We need 3 more to a "Team TBH" in the Regionals. A minimum of 1 trad shooter per team, I can handle that assignment.

At least it will be safer than shooting at Golden Gate park!

I just did our range's bi-annual safety inspection with the state archery association, and our range is a lot safer, we're not into "high risk behaviors" like they are in Soddom by the Sea.

Hey Bill that sounds great, which range do you guys shoot at?

Wow, another SJ bowhunter on TBH. Who'd a thunk?

Bowhunters Unlimited Archery Club at Stevens Creek Cty Park. Great range and group of people to fling arrer's with. Many trad shooters but there's a bunch of compounders too (I shoot anything and everything). Come on up some time and shoot, send me a pm with your contact info.

Here's the practice range, plus we have 28 covered targets in the hills, and setup 3d's for all our club shoots unmakred distances. The only marked distances on the course are at the sandpit for broadhead tuning.

That elk pic would get shot!

It has, sign or no sign. Somebody in the club painted it on the wooden back board over the broadhead sand pit years ago. No real elk wandering on the range, unfortunately. They're in the Hamilton Range on the other side of SJ. Some buster blacktails and an occasional cougar.

You folks missed a great shoot, actually the shooting and competition was at a level that I would have been embarrassed to chuck arrows with that group, so I 'just' stayed in the shade and came out to cook the fajitas for lunch on my "TBH disc cooker" in addition to my shoot coordinator duties (including I get to pick up all the 3d targets brought to a fire road in my pickup, blasting George Strait for the un-initiated to hear).
