Gaido's motel is indeed of yesteryear.

But the restaurant is A+ (priced like it, too). It is by far the most popular and largest restaurant on the island, and regularly fills up early. Reservations recommended.

I sincerely doubt the claim that it "stunk like urine."

It is but they are WAY to proud of it now. There are so many other options these days on the island now.

So now we are into questioning someone's integrity? I used to live in Bayou Vista (just across the causeway from Galveston for those who are unfamiliar with the area) and all of my neighbors bragged about it. So my ex-wife and I decided to try it. In my and my ex-wife's opinion, it stuck of urine and that was the last time we visited.

Gaidos is nowhere near what is was 20 years ago. Last time we ate there it did have a scent that didn't quite jive and I even asked my wife if she smelled it (she did). There are at least 10 other restaurants I'd recommend before Gaidos.
