A win for Alabamas confederate monuments!

    They get to stay.

Alabama lawmakers of Friday approved sweeping protections for Confederate monuments, names and other historic memorials, as some Southern cities rethink the appropriateness of keeping such emblems on public property.

African-American lawmakers opposed the bill at every step of the legislative process, saying argued that solidifies a shameful legacy of slavery.

Funny thing is they forget it was their families and tribal leaders that sold them to the nation.

There is a statistic value out there that says upwards of 90% or greater of the African Americans came to the US after the Civil War.

So not sure it's their bone to pick. But maybe they are of the 5-10% that are slave descendants.

My family has been here since the 1600's on my maternal side. I have direct descendants who fought in the civil war. I can express my sentiments. My maternal yankee side had a history of slavery while my southern paternal side didn't.

As my daughter put it. "99% of the campus could care less if Richard Spencer spoke or not at Auburn........nobody was going anyway. It was more cops & media than students on the quad. Nobody knew what group the speaker actually represented as the Alt Right, skinheads, KKK, Neo-Nazi's, etc all had about 5 or 10 folks yelling something different from there little areas. It was all non-sense at best and most kids were laughing!"
Made us proud that she did not feel threatened, insulted nor interested in such rhetoric from either side. (Guess she gets that from me!) Her next text 15 minutes later was from the library with her headphones on studying chemistry.....lol!
There are a couple of news clips but this one stood out.
Two people were arrested Tuesday night at Auburn University amid protests over the appearance of white nationalist Richard Spencer, whose speaking events have sparked outcry at other schools.
