I have it. It causes me no sleep at times and makes my fuse so short and so intense that sometimes its like I'm having an out of body experience. I take medicine do my visits with my psychologist and psychiatrist along with group sessions all with the VA. Finding the right meds is the hard part. Dealing with either being numb to the world or just feeling weird all the time. I hope who ever they are gets help. It's a messed up deal when your brain isn't working right.

does your dept or hers have a psych services? most do and or have dr.s they can send you out to see. on our dept it was protocol to see psych services after a shooting or critical incident, I was involved in 4 over my career and yes they do effect you nightmares. sleepless nights, easily agitated, alcohol abuse, relationship problems, no one can understand you if they hadn't been through it. there is hope mine came from our Police chaplaincy program and a fellow officer who brought a bitter older officer to the LORD. I had quit getting drunk and started facing my demons. Dr.s seemed to just go through the motions to me, talking to other leo's that had been thru these situations before seem to help, but the old timers also drank a lot too then took you under their wings and you became like some old grumpy leo's recluses that never needed cover or get that boot outta my square I don't need help. try one of those programs and also seek the lord as we are his PEACEKEEPERS and he does hear our cries for help
