A few months ago my dad turned 70 and for his birthday my brothers and I wanted to give him a guided fishing trip. I naturally turned to the GS for suggestions and many of you gave me Michael and Teri Littlejohn. I booked the trip back in March.
Last month, I reached out to Teri for recommendations on lodging. She told me to check out Tom Malouf at
http://malouftrophywhitetails.com/the-lodge/.
I booked the 1800 sq foot lodge with a private 10 acre lake for only $225.00/night. The lodge was awesome! It beat staying in a hotel room by miles. My dad, brother, and I pulled up and found a little slice of heaven. We fished the lake in front of the lodge for a couple of hours and decided to go to another lake that a buddy got us access to. We pulled the boat over and got it launched. Due to the gusty winds of 12-20 mph, we didn't catch a whole lot, but it was fun.
We ate dinner, went back to the lodge to sit on the back porch to watch the turkeys, listen to the insects, and have a few cocktails.
We crashed out and woke to a beautiful morning. We went over to the marina where we met up with Michael Littlejohn. We ran out into the lake and started fishing. Man, let me tell you what... Michael knows where the fish are. We limited out on whites (25/person) in about 30-45 minutes.
We then turned our attention to the Hybrids. We burned through them (5/Person) in about another 30-45 minutes.
We then started cat fishing. Michael put us on a hole and we were catching them left and right, but they were not the size we wanted to keep. We kept a few of the larger ones, but not many. We decided to go back to hybrid/striper fishing just for fun. We killed them!
We went back to the dock with a haul of fish. Michael had them filleted out in no time and bagged up. We left with 5 gallon sized bags chocked full of fish.
Best thing of all, I got to make some memories with my dad and my little brother.
