    Lifetime License

So being my first year out of the military I will not get to take advantage of a free hunting license. I am considering getting a lifetime license for the 1800$ price tag. it would basically pay for itself in ~17 years.

That being said what is the history of the price increases of yearly hunting and all fishing combos over the past 20 or so years? along with what have the prices of the lifetimes gone up in 20 years?

Got mine in early 2000's just before a price increase. Wife bought it for 1 year anniversary. Paid $1K. I haven't run the numbers again since increase in super combos, but I should be even or paid for itself this year or next. Coach

I got mine the day before the price went from $1,000 to $1,800 (Not sure exactly which year this was). At $68 a license, it will take a total of 15 years to pay off instead of the now ~27...

Wish they would give a discount for buying multiple in same family. I got 2 boys 11 and 8. Coach

I believe they were $500 at one time.

My dad bought himself and I one back about five years ago for i think 1200 a piece it was right before it went up to 1800. Its worth the investment.

Do they give military discounts on them?

Don't know if mine will ever pay for itself but man it's nice. Especially since I moved back to Oklahoma.

Biggest mistake I made was not getting Arkansas lifetime while I was in college. My brother has Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas lifetime. I have Okie and Tex.

                1800 at 5% return is $90

So it technically would never pay for itself. Just saying. But I bought one just in case I don't have money in the future. Plus it's easy and fast to get new tags each year.

Screwed up and didn't get OK licenses twice!! Had chance to get resident while living there 2 summers in a row during college. Didn't want to hassle with get an OK drivers license for resident. Then I waited 1 year to long for the lifetime non-resident. It was $400 or $450 at the time. Decided I was gonna pull the trigger following year and they discontinued it. Now I spend $70-$100 every year to waterfowl hunt a few days in OK!!

They are free while you are in but once you are out, unless disabled, you start paying the regular fee.

It was $1,200 in 2013 and one of the best gifts I have ever received.

Received mine as a BDay gift when they were 600 or 800$ I believe

                        Already paid itself off

Bought mine at the age of 44 a few years back. Some financial analysts on here will tell me that was a terrible deal I don't always look at all the things i do with my money in that way. The biggest consideration for me was, I will not make the same amount of money when I decide to retire, hopefully soon

I don't have kids, but last year I bought the fishing half of the lifetime license for my nephews. This year they will be getting the hunting half. It's a wonderful financial investment for them as they are 16 & 18

Annual license has more than tripled in the last 20 years.

If you account for a similar increase over the next 20 years, then it will pay for itself.

My dad gave me a lifetime combo around 1989 or so. I think it was $600 or maybe $800 at the time. He's been gone for 5 years now, but every year around my birthday I get a present of a new free license with everything but the federal duck stamp included. Go for it.
