I got Nexus when I was working in Canada, and at the time I think it was limited to international travel in North America. Eventually, Global Entry was provided at no cost to all Nexus travelers, and at some point TSA Pre-Check as well (at least, I don't remember applying for it or paying for it separately). They all save time and hassle at the airport if you're a frequent traveler. For the person that travels once a year or so, probably not worth it.

Global Entry for sure if traveling abroad. Right out the door almost. Been traveling from Thailand and Saudi Arabia for the last 4 years. Best money I've spent.

I have Global Entry and it has saved my butt a few times making my domestic connection flight when my international flight landed late. Well worth the money IMO

I have Pre-Check as I fly a lot in the states. It's been a great purchase.
Flew into and out of Oakland last week, the regular line was half of what the Pre line was St.Paul Minnesota was the same. Sometimes its not bad at LAX but it does get bad. And I should have added that weekday flights make it easier in my opinion than weekend flights.

I've seen the pre-check line longer than the normal line at IAH a few times but even with it being longer you still clear the check point quicker. No need to pull out your computer, leave your shoes on... stuff like that speeds up the process. Leaving SFO last week the pre-check line was about 50% longer than the standard line. I cleared security and waited 10 minutes for the rest of my team (non-pre-check) to clear security.

I have global entry and pre check. There is not much time savings in the Pre check line but you do not have to take off your shoes. There have a few occasions where it is a time saver. The real time savings is clearing customs. Most premium credit cards will pay for your global entry.

Also check out Clear. It's at a lot of Delta hubs. I fly almost weekly to Detroit but don't have anything. Austin airport at 530am the TSA pre line is longer than the regular line. In Detroit I just cut through the Westin hotel which is connected to the airport and has their own security check point. No line/ no wait. Both are faster than TSA pre lines. With TSA pre you have to use their line and can't take the faster line.

Used PreCheck in Orlando two days ago.... have to say it was AWESOME.

Last year going through that hell hole of an TSA checkpoint, we were in line for 90+ minutes only to be barraded by an old hag that wanted my then 6 yearold son to walk to her by himself , unaccompanied...
When I asked what that was supposed to accomplish and exactly what kind of conversation she thought she was going to have with a 6 yearold that was relevant to security, she got pissy.. so did I.
Agent next to her rolled his eyes and waved us to him.

Precheck.. we zoomed right to the agent booth ..got a very nice young man who made the experience quick and clean...all the while chatting with my kids about baseball and cheer ...while we stood next to them.

all the way through in under 5 minutes...from TSA precheck line through the scanners to the gate.
