This is who came to see me yesterday evening...

There has been random shots like plinking and whatnot most likely on larger than 10 acre tracts out here for the entire time I've lived here as an owner for over 16 years. As far as I know there have never been any reported to the County Sheriff but that's a moot point. I just bought a new pistol and had a friend over that wanted to shoot it to see if they wanted to buy one for CC. I shot 6 times and they shot 6 times all into my back yard at the ground about 10 feet away and which is not mowed and not towards any of the houses. We then went about our business of cooking pork chops on the grill. About 15 minutes later a female officer pulled up to my gated driveway and stopped. I went to greet them, shook hands and then she asked if I had been shooting. I said yes. She then said I cannot shoot unless I have more than 10 acres and that it was safe to do so without shooting towards houses etc. and that I needed to stop. She didn't actually threaten me with anything but I said there are lots of shooting out here and always has been so I figured all was well. She did say also to report any shots in the future if I heard any. I said that shooting out here didn't bother me. Anyway part of the reason I bought out here in the county is so I can shoot. I guess I have an butt hole for a neighbor somewhere that reported this since the officer knew to come directly to me...
That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Lol

I have lived in counties with 10 acre minimums, and some have more. Neighbors hearing the noise don't know which direction you are shooting and it makes them nervous. I understand that because I am the same way after seeing what I've seen at public shooting ranges.

Were those apartments here in the us legally?

Hays county, where I live has absolutely no restrictions whatsoever. HOA and POA has to be 10 acres or more....if they even allow it.

The next county over, Comal has 10 acres or more for bow or shotgun and 50+ for rifles.

How can I find where to look it up for this county specifically?

Google your county. If the commissioners court doesn't have it online, you might put in a call to the sheriff department or DA who would be prosecuting any charges.
