    Deleted duramax???

I just got a 2016 duramax and am considering the delete for the long term life of the motor.

Are there any negatives in doing it other than the obvious that it is illegal? (I am well aware of this but the EPA is not paying repair bills lol)

Also if you have a 2011+ how many miles has it been deleted and any issues?

That's one of my questions. I was wondering if there are any negatives

I deleted mine after constant issues a month or so ago. I don't know what kind of issues you could have. All you're doing is opening up the exhaust and turning off regen and DEF injection. You aren't altering anything that the truck "needs" to run.

Now if you begin adding (serious) power, you could have issues. But a stock deleted tune, or even a mild tune, won't cause any issues if a reputable shop built the tune.

There are issues outside of the operation of the truck. The legality as you mentioned, problems trading in or selling the truck, inspections probably won't be an issue (wasn't with mine) but that could change in the future.

One of my guys has a deleted duramax and while his has not been deleted for very long he really likes it, better mileage, no more reigns, and no more def. same reasons I love my deleted 6.7 ford.

I have a 08 Duramax I just deleted a few days ago. I replaced the exhaust system, deleted EGR and DPF and added 75 HP. What I've noticed so far, besides the HP gain, is an increase from 13.4 avg mpg to 17.2 or so. I need more miles to really evaluate the mpg. My truck has 138k on it. Wish I had done it sooner. I don't like the added noise level tho.

One downside. Truck is significantly louder when pulling. I did it to my Ford, but I imagine across the board its the same. I have a straight pipe with a muffler on it. Still likes to drone when I pull trailers.

Other than that, its the best money you can spend on a vehicle.

I deleted my 2011 with about 30k miles on it and ran it to around 150k with no issues before I traded it in. I think the delete is necessary to get the best life out of them.

No kit. Bought a flopro cat back and a tune from motorops. Throw on the exhaust and flash the truck and you're done.

Thats all I did on my 09 durajap, no reason to pay someone to bolt on an exhaust and plug a programer into the obd. Like I said that was an 09 and no blocking was needed

Mileage went from 12-13 to 17-19 and the truck ran like a scalded ape

What kind of money are we talking about to delete and change exhaust? Have an 08 that I'm thinking about deleting.

Cat back exhaust cost me about $350, and I think I paid $500 for the tune. I already had an EFI controller, so I didn't have to buy the hardware, that will cost more obviously. Could install the exhaust in 30 min with a buddy and jack stands and the tuning is easy as pie.

You will void your warranty by deleting it. That's really the only negative.
