I helped someone built a fence and they had the air powered version of a t post drive. It was worthless I could drive 7 t post by hand to its 1. The best way to do it is push the post down with a front end loader on a tractor. Its fast and easy when the grounds not to dry

From experience, the gas powered is FAR from worthless. Worth every penny!

I rented an air driver out of llano a few weeks ago to drive some 10 ft post for deer pens and other than the driver being heavy that thing could drive post within second. You can't drive them that fast with a post diver.

Didn't know such an animal existed. I'll be looking into one.

I'd like to know how the $300 model works out. Keep us "posted" on the results.

I was born gifted with an unbelievable ability to dig post holes, and pound T posts. However, those T Post drivers put me to shame.

Lmao... that's if he's ok of course

LOL that was a long time ago. Nothing could hurt his thick arse skull anyway.

It will help you out a bunch if driving in 6.5' or taller T post. The sleeve/hammer that you insert T post in on the driver is not very deep at 6" on my driver. That 38# driver is balanced on only the top 6" or less of the T post. My driver is 32" tall and most of the weight is at the top. So a 6.5' T post with 2.5' on top of it is not balanced well. Once you get a routine or rhythm down, you can drive a T-post every 60 seconds with most of that time walking to the next T post. If you have someone to help you with holding the T-post and moving the ladder it will not take long to drive a T post. If you stand in the back of a Ranger or Mule and let someone drive from post to post it will be very quick without the ladder. The driver I have uses very little fuel. One other tip is to pre-mark your T post to the depth you want to drive them to.

I knocked myself silly also, concussed me. It was not fun. I know a guy who has a driver about 4.5' long. When that bottom hits the ground he's done. Posts are all the same length in the ground and he never dings his head from lifting it to high. I can't do that at 5'7", I'd never get it off the post after driving it.

I used to giggle at posts where guys talked about knocking themselves out.

Drove lots of tposts over the years and never once bonked the ol melon.

That was until this past summer...
At the ranch alone with my 5 yr old daughter. Hit the edge of the post and the back end of the driver smacked me square on the top of the head. Saw stars and got real nauseous. Made it back to the polaris and sat down and put ice on my head from the cooler. Worked out ok, other than a knot that lasted a month.

Won't ever drive posts alone again.

A gas one or pneumatic would be sweet

Where did you rent the T post driver in Llano? I saw you mentioned it in another thread and I am interested in renting one as well to build feeder pens in Mason.

I used a gas powered driver last year, I was very sceptical too say the least before using it, amazing how easy it made the work. Wear ear defenders !

ordering one of these. Little pricey but seems to be a good machine

I bought it last year in Feb. and used it to build about 2 miles of new cross fencing and rebuild 1/2 mile of old fence with new. They are heavy at around 38# with fuel but drive a T-post down 21" in about 9-12 seconds. I could drive 90 T-post in about 1.5 hours. I would drive 12-15 post then stop and go back to straighten each one with a level. Then move my Ranger up to where I had stopped and drive the next group of posts. I compared it to the Rohrer air driven one and decided on the gas operated. With the Rohrer I would have needed to take out my air compressor and the generatror or buy a gas compressor.

I am 6'1" tall and it was a struggle to get a 38# t post driver on top 6' t post up in the air to start to drive the post. I learned to insert the post in the driver then stand both up. Then drive the post. With a 6.5' tall post I could barely reach the controls when the driver was on top of the post. It is not fun watching 38 lbs balanced awkwardly above your head that you do not have good control over.
Pretty much sums up what I was going to say... That and the fact that this thing is right up there with the thermacell as far as inventions that are a must-have that do what they advertise and then some!!
