    Buying and installing a windmill

If one would want to put up an windmill and pump out of a well, how much would it cost

The well is dug 4", electric pump pulled

Would like to go back in it with a windmill

    100' deep

I can't answer your question but do know that many windmills have been replaced with solar.

What he said^^^. Windmills require a lot of maintenance. Solar is the way to go.

I've looked at them, windmills are pretty expensive but sure look better than solar panels

I put one up a year and 1/2 ago.
The one I used was a remanufactured 8' mill ran cost of 2600
          Fiasa/aeromotor mill brand
The 25' pipe tower was about 750. The pipe etc (about 80 feet deep)- wooden sucker rods, 2" galvanized pipe and brass cylinder with 2 brass check valves ran ballpark of 1400
I'm sure I might be forgetting something but I think my final total parts and labor were in the range of 5500-6000 when I got done
Hopefully this gives you a rough idea of some of the cost etc
You can prob get a solar setup cheaper, but we've never had any good luck or longevity out of the solar pumps

Long term go with solar. My rancher friends are.

If it were me I would go with solar. I have a windmill I have considered selling and going with solar. It sits down in a low area water lot with some really huge live oaks and bull mesquites surrounding it. Does not get enough wind some days to pump.

Last time I was in Kansas we asked about buying some old windmills

The Junkers were $1500 and up

No idea how much a new one costs

Add several hundred to a grand for cement and labor to set the four anchor post, cost will depend on soil type-depth etc..

I'd like to do the same thing. I have a 4" well with a pump that I run with a generator to fill my water tank. I'm on the prairie and and get a ridiculous amount of wind, so I know it would move some water when needed. I haven't checked with a professional yet, but have been told by a few to expect anywhere from $5k-10k.

If you've never had to climb up to grease or repair a windmill it's good experience and a good hint to go solar lol.
