Looks like rollover is finally getting closed

Not sure what I think about it. I imagine the trout fishing in east bay will take a big hit. They've been talking about closing it as long as I can remember. I've caught a lot of good fish out of that back bay when I used to live down there!

One of Texas’ most beloved fishing spots may be seeing its final days. On Friday, a judge granted a summary judgment in favor of Galveston County seizing 15.87 acres of land surrounding Rollover Pass on the Bolivar Peninsula.

Likewise, I'm torn on this. I have fished there before but never caught much (except on a kayak out into the bay) and was always saddened by the amounts of trash left out there. I guess if it was not a natural pass in the first place, might as well close it up.

Yes the way that people have trashed that place and the N Jetty for that matter is pathetic. Their inability to act like adults and clean up after themselves is a big part of lack of public access to fish.

It doesn't really matter much to me since I no longer saltwater fish to speak of. But I have tons of great memories fishing there....Hate to see it go for future generations.
