Never, but I "dot" the case mouth on the line pad and twist a 1/4 turn.

        Same as post 26

For the most part, the only round I have to do that for is my 257 Roberts. It helps the expander ball slide in the case mouth better. I think the expander ball for my die failry rough and I've thought about ordering another one.

See if you can get a carbide expander ball--

I used to until I got an RCBS case prep machine. Now I just chamfer the case neck and never have a problem with the expander ball. I do use liberal amounts of One Shot spray so some of it probably gets into the inside.

Another thing I do is a thorough cleaning of my dies and wash them out good with carbon tet or B-12. Blow out with air and spray the inside with One Shot and let dry before use.

Always better to lube the inside. You can get by sometimes if you have a really smooth expander ball, and I have polished some of my expanders. Without lube you can actually pull the shoulder forward on some cases as you pull the case neck back over the expander, causing hard chambering.

Thanks for all the replys! I'm going to to stick to the pad but will place the casing neck down and 1/4 turn before I place in shell holder to resize. Going to go work on some 22-250 for the boy now and see how much better it works.
