    Pool safety fence??

We are considering buying a house with a pool but I'm insisting we put a safety fence up if we do.

Anyone in the Houston area recommend a company or diy product? Anyone have one have one they've used? Lots of options on google such as katchakid, water warden, pool guard but I can't tell if they're legit and strong or just good sales tactics. They all appear to be dang expensive.

We had a katchakid installed on a pool when we lived in pearland and it was a very good system. Your insurance company is going to require a fence or you will end up paying extra for the liability.

If the property already has a fence around it all you need is a function self lock system or just a lock on the gate

        Catch a kid

Safer than a fence. I jumped on it and barely touched the water

The nets across the pool are obviously the safest when installed but who takes the time to install it every time they get out of the pool. If it were me I would get an iron fence built around the pool areas

Not as big of a pain as you would think. 5 min to take it off, 12 to put it on. Yes this sucks but it's a lot better than an adventurous 2 year old getting out the back door when your 6 year old leaves it open and fallin in the pool.

if you are buying it, try to get the seller to install it or at least pay half of the cost.

Our whole yard was fenced, and we put Konnor in Infant Water Survival training.
The fence kept the neighborhood out, and the training took care of our kid.

We bought the iron fence panels and posts from Home Depot for our back porch. It was super easy to install and looks really good. Keeps the dogs off the porch and the kids on the porch.

I use to be a Health Inspector for the City Of San Antonio before taking this job ... So I know a few things about pools and some legal issues.

Fences and controls for access are good but Unfortunately and not to be negative according to city attorneys ... It don't matter how high a fence the owner is still held partially responsible if someone breaks-in or trespasses and drowns or gets hurt in your pool.
That's why an average increase of 50 % in home insurance if you have a backyard pool. I said not only NO but ... No to a backyard pool. That's why the HOA due and they have a good pool ..

I highly recommend Pool Guard Texas. I've used them at two different houses and have been pleased with the company and quality of their product.

                          Liability insurance is very cheap
Germania has 1m for $59 a year so even if the 50% is accurate ( i dont recall off the top of my head if there is a higher rate for pools) its still very cheap

Yeah, my insurance did not go up 50% due to a pool. Lots of false information regarding pools and insurance. Dont know how many times I have heard a diving board will cause insurance to go way up, which is bogus also. 1 million liability on top of existing insurance is pretty darn cheap.
