Is there a chimney or a gas line nearby or in the attic?
I would turn all gas off and then go watch the meter to make sure it didn't pop a fitting somewhere.
Got hit last May and ruptured our gas lines in the attic. Get your lines pressure tested.

I've seen similar damage when it hits the steel lintel over a window, but it usually hits a tree or a chimney chase first.

Happened to us last Summer as well...came in by the stove & traveled through the stove, melting the 110 cord & catching fire. Burned a hole in the flex gas line & was burning straight gas & the fire moved up thru the cabinets. Fried the a/c control board & outside a/c unit as it exited the opposite end of the house.
As said above, make sure all lines are pressure tested & you may ask for a megohm test of all circuits to be included in the damage estimate, as well as a contingency for any future appliance failures (we had several electronics fail within a month or so of being hit) & strike report to be ran to document it further.
We were lucky we were home & had a fire extinguisher handy. Glad it wasn't any worse for you & no one was hurt!Last edited by RodinaRanč; 04-17-2017, 11:18 PM.
