Can you redo an existing septic line.there is a house that I am looking at purchasing that they say they need a new septic line and possible tank. It is on the lease property and I'm concern with the laws about renovating an existing septic system line.if there is an existing one there are there any guidelines for laws about repairing it.

We just replaced the leach lines for the septic at the lease (well, the other guys did, I spent all day on the excavator, digging and backfilling )
Not sure on any laws, outlr tank was good, but our old lines were full of roots and dirt, so completely ineffective. The new ones are a hood system, with a gravel bottom. We went with these rather than a conventional perforated line system. Only been a few weeks, but they're working awesome right now.
It looks like this, but with a gravel bottom, and we backfilled part with gravel. It should work great. It goes together pretty easy, the pieces snap together and it snakes through the ditches easy when you go around trees and such.

When I was looking into redoing mine in '06, I was told that since I owned over 10 acres I didn't have to have a permit. I had someone do it and they used the field line with the styrofoam popcorn stuff in plastic netting. I would check the laws, if you can find them and try to abide by them.
