    Any Pool Experts?

Panel board went out on a pool roughly 10 days...pool is now ugly.

When new board is installed ...shocked the crap out of pool or drain and start over?

    Thanks

Ugly as in color or ugly with green fuzz

If it's green, knock the PH down to about 6.8, shock the crap out of it, circulate for 24 hours, vacuum to waste.

I would think if just green and fuzzy shock and brush and repeat till clear.

No expert, but based on past experience as a pool owner, I'd shock it, flock it, then vacuum to waste. This would be cheaper than draining/refilling your pool, plus it puts less stress on your liner.

          Good luck,

          Dave

I'm a "Larry The Cable Guy" Health Inspector and you can still save the water. Once the pump is running start circulating water with shock treatment @ 20 ppm... You can start killing some of the Algae before starting the pump by shock treating. Lots of scrubbing or elbow grease and vacuuming.

If you lower the PH with Moratic Acid .. watch yourself and dilute it in small amounts - 5 Gal bucket and pour it at the inlets. Don't put strait Muratic Acid in the pool. It weighs more than water and sinks to the bottom and causes stains + damage to the liner or plaster.

Once it clears keep the chlorine level at 20 ppm for 8 hours just in case you got any bacteria in the water that can cause harm to swimmers.

If you decide to empty the pool ... notify local sewer or waste because they would want to know why a LARGE amount of water is going down the drain and some areas have ordinances. If it's a below ground pool ... Don't leave empty for long as depending on the soil .. It may pop-up out of the ground. I've seen this and after this ... Only 1 option .. New Pool.

            Hope this helps ...

Thanks...just green and looks (to me) just a good brushing.

But I'm no expert and draining/refilling just sounds ugh!

              Thanks again

                What kind/size of pool?

                How ugly is ugly?

What is your stabilizer level at right now (cyuranic acid)?

All this will factor into the decision.

This is great advice. I know of at least 3 different people who have done this and it sure ain't pretty!

before you replace the board there are a couple of relays behind it. I changed my relays and it fixed my bored...saved some coin.

I've seen a whole lot worse and it was clear 2-3 days after repairs.
Might want to shock treat it without pump to save yourself some harder work once repais are complete. This will kill algae..

I do industrial water treatment for a living. Above nailed it.

With the picture you posted shock it to kill the algae, flock it to settle to the bottom and vacuum to waste.

My cousins pool got away from him and looked much worse than yours. We're getting it cleaned up now using the above method.
