Woodpeckers and Game Cams...What's the Attraction?

Is anyone else having woodpeckers ravage their game cams? We hunt between Brady and San Angelo (about) and the woopeckers freakin' LOVE to bang out the smoke colored screen over the motion sensor.

All the Time Back in the Day. We have Lost 10 or More a Trip. Hang a rubber snake over the Top of It and They will Leave it Alone

They hear the click when the camera functions and think a bug is inside. It will likely happen again if one frequents your set up.

I think it was tuthdoc that suggested you take tape and make the hole a square instead of round... So they won't think it's a woodpecker pecked hole.

Never done it but it makes sense.

Lost 2 cameras to them. Pictures take a little figuring out at first.

Yep been there, maybe the color or shine to it or something, but yep they hit mine.

Never had that trouble until this year, then lost three in a matter of months.

I think it is just mother nature's way of punishing me for my pride in finally having found some cameras I actually liked and were working for more than one year at a time.
