    OT Popup air conditioner

I'm getting ready to get a Flagstaff pupup. The dealer is trying to talk me out of putting a 15000 btu air conditioner in it. He is telling me that a 13500 is all I need and if I go with the 15000 I run the chance of some campgrounds when they are full not being able to provide enough power to run the larger unit. Does anyone have and input on this? Is he right on this? Will a 13500 be enough on a hot Texas summer day in the sun?

Most camps either offer a 30 amp service or 50 amp service. Alot of them have both. I don't see any problem with going with the 15,000BTU.

            Good luck!

I have to tell you. Get the bigger. The popup I have we couldn't keep cool. We had 2 window units that I put in and it kept it almost bearable during the summer. The canvas just breathes so much it's really tough to cool them off.

Not sure what mine has but it will freeze you out. Dont think you need much in a pop-up, would go with the lesser.

As stated above, it's not much difference. I just changed one out from a 13500 to a 15000 and what a difference it does make! Your breaker size will be the same. I think the one I just did was on a 20 amp breaker. The mains are 30 amp.

Tell the dealer to install the bigger unit or you'll take your business to someone who will.

You will be just fine at the campgrounds. Most have 30amp connections at a minimum and 50 amp connections for the larger RVs.

In the summer, during the day, in a pop-up, you can't have an air conditioner too big. They'll be OK during the night, but when it's sizzling outside, you'll want the bigger one.

higher profit margin on the smaller unit.
