We live 9 miles out of town, so local cable is out. Spend $120 a month with Dish to get Fox Southwest so I can watch the Ranger games. Is there a better (cheaper way) to get Fox Southwest ?? Ranger games and occasionally 10:00 news is all we ever watch on tv.

Subscriptions to MLB.tv and unlocator.com will do the trick. It's how I watch the Astros while being in market and not having a cable subscription. I can also watch the Rangers or any other team in MLB if I like. MLB subscription for all teams for the whole season was around $100 and the unlocator subscription is $5 per month. Much cheaper than cable.
As far as the 10:00 news, as long as its one of your broadcast and not Fox news, get a digital antenna. Over the air TV is free. -
