Ok lol. I've only worked for them 25 years. You're not wrong, but neither am I. AT&T will sell most of their copper plant in rural areas today if they could find a sucker to buy it from them. No you don't have to have FTTP "fiber to the premise." If you do have FTTP and live close enough you may be able to get Gigapower. Like I said it's all about location. I hope you son still isn't a premtech. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

They need to free up the bandwidth to provide faster more reliable speeds. When you have HD channels with broad band they HD will eat up your bandwidth speeds too. You are also suffering from your neighbors usage too. So that is the push to move everyone they can to have Direct TV for video services.

It's crazy how much entertainment technology has changed in 30+ years. When I was a kid I was the tv remote . Today I had a guy complain because it took him almost 3 minutes to download a movie. There is no service now or in the future that will make everyone happy.

The best I can get is att Internet through the phone line. It's horrible, only thing available.

We simply got rid of cable/satellite. We have netflix and internet.

Uverse kept going up on me. Switched to Direct and saving over $100/month

I called Directv the other day because my billed goes up every year. They gave me a $35 credit per month for 12 mths. After the 12 mths, I will just need to call again and negotiate the price. They were really good about making it easy for once.

I've done this twice with DirectV but this time they wouldn't budge.
AT&T just finished installing all new cat 5 cable throughout so I should be good for a while. Tech said they will be going to cat 6 before too long.
