Switching from DirectV to U-verse

Getting the install done this am. DirectV went up $43 per month so I told them where to stick it. U-verse will cost me $50 a month less and I get 55mps internet vs 12mps. Doesn't hardly make sense seeing as how ATT owns DirectV .
Hope I made the right decision because I'm locked in for 24 months before I have to go thru the hassle of re-negotiating again.

AT&T owns both. I would be surprised if U-verse is still around in two years. AT&T is going wireless

I called Directv the other day because my billed goes up every year. They gave me a $35 credit per month for 12 mths. After the 12 mths, I will just need to call again and negotiate the price. They were really good about making it easy for once.

I think he said they went up $43.00 over what he was already paying. I probably will do the same soon.

Better make sure you have good quality broad band wires running to your house. I still have uverse but it's been a NIGHTMARE keeping it working. AT&T customer service is the buttwhippin of all time.

That's what I did two years+ ago and the introductory price was low. Now it is way high. U-Verse will be much cheaper for at least 2 years.

AT&T Wireless for broadband? dont think so ...... they are pushing all they can fool to Direct TV for video service to free up bandwidth on UVerse for broadband. So they try to sell you both but Satellite TV services blows no matter what they tell you nothing can stop rain fade!

Yes that is a good point your home network plays a big part of your service quality. Also can have issues with the provisioning of the equipment too or just older equipment and you can request it be updated if they are using a newer style which they have changed a few time in the last year or two.

AT&T is trying to get away from copper lines as fast as they can. U-Verse is great "IF" you live close enough to the hub providing it, and you have cat 5 or better throughout your house. Some folks are lucky enough to have fiber optic cable installed all the way to their home. It's all about location

AT&T is trying to get away from copper lines as fast as they can. No they are not they are upgrading to newer copper technologies to make the copper they have better we sell it to them and adding new fiber

U-Verse is great "IF" you live close enough to the hub providing it, and you have cat 5 or better throughout your house. They will run new CAT5 lines to each box free during install if needed. My son was a Install Tech.


Some folks are lucky enough to have fiber optic cable installed all the way to their home. It's all about location. You dont have to have FTTH but yes distance is an issue we are working with them to fix.

Wireless broadband is a nightmare ask CLEAR Wireless customers its all about line of site.

Yeah, the first two years we had it we had the equipment changed out a couple of times. The last time instead of just changing out one thing or another, they switched everything out and ran a new line outside the house. No problems since then for several years.

I hated their customer service. Most of the time they didn't speak English well.
