That looks like old crab grass that died during the winter. Put a heavy shot of pre emergent now before crab grass pops back up! Lots of water and a balanced fertilizer like a 13-13-13 at 400lbs to the acre.

Too late for pre emergent. That should have gone down in February.

Reheat you have is a fungus called gray leaf spot. Not grubs they only feed from 1st of July -mid September. With this fungus a liquid fungicide works better because it is a leaf fungus not a root uptake fungus like brown patch. T-methyl works great add a surfactant with it like a soap you keep in the kitchen it makes the fungicide stick to the leaf blade. 1/4 cup to 2 gallon of water. Stay away from high nitrogen fertilizers it stresses out st.aug. use 21-7-14 all season fert every 6 weeks . Water 2 times a week starting at 5 am. 2 sprays of fungicide 10 days apart will stop it. Once you see it not spreading then fert. These fungus only are active when it's 60 at night 80 during day. But in Houston it's more of a problem.
