Anyone use a stand up desk ?

At the end of the day after working in my office I feel like total crap. Neck hurts, back hurts and my legs feel stiff from sitting at this desk all day.
Thinking about trying a stand up desk that converts from sitting to standing.
If you have one what brand did you buy ?
What's the negatives and the positives ?

I am also interested to see who has one. I see those commercials and think, that could work.

I work at a Law Firm in downtown Dallas. A few of our Attys have started using them. Some purchased the very expensive motorized desks (Herman Miller, over 1K) but a few have purchased the Veri-Desk Pro-Plus. It is a desktop model that sits on your desk and then allows you to raise up when wanted. Cost is around 400-500 for the units.
As an IT person, be sure to think about cables and lengths. I have had to buy longer cables for the users monitors, keyboards & mouse.

Been thinking about this concept myself.

I like the idea of the kind of desk top that can go up and down.

I'm almost certain I would need to wear good shoes for standing, or get some anti fatigue mats to stand on.

Stand at your desk? I'm thinking more like getting a 50" tv and wireless hardware so I can kick back in the chair and work with my feet on the desk

We have a company that is the innovative leader in sit to stand desking offering a wide range of options. We sell primarily contract thru dealers throughout North America but you can see our stuff at this website:
            JRBStudio.com

There is extensive research around the negative health issues of sitting all day as well as the values of changing postural positions throughout the day. Increased productivity, repetitive motion injury avoidance, better circulatory values; extensive list.I can elaborate ad nauseum.

I already checked with my IT lady and she is prepared.

a friend of mine uses one. He swears by it and I think its a good idea, sitting all day is bad for you.

Yes for about 6 months. Check Amazon. The sit upons can be had for under $300 and are big enough for two 20" screens. A mat helps initially and then you may get used to it. As far as benefits, hard to say because you can get to leaning and stressing one side/hip more than another. I've found it beneficial in helping maintain better posture throughout the day.

We have a lot of employees that have them and I see them standing to work, but sitting a lot also.

I looked at the website, appreciate it. I'm thinking of one that just sits on my desk I already have

One of my Jr Associate Attys bought one at IKEA and it actually works really well. Was simple to put together and is a full desk that is motorized. Cost was just over 500.

My desk is able to raise to a standing position but I hardly ever use it in that fashion. I don't spend my whole day in the office however.

I can't do the sit on my *** all day either.
I do a lot of estimating. I have (2) drafting tables. One I can sit down at and one and I can stand at. I spend the majority of my time at the one I can stand at.
                              Good luck on your search.
