    GoPro On Bow

Who all uses a GoPro mounted on their bow? Seems the pics I take of deer with my phone are the ones that I have no intention of shooting. Might be cool to have pics or video of the shot. I know others video their hunt. I just want to keep it simple.

Son gave me a Elusive Wildlife hog light for Xmas. It has a picatinny rail. Thought about getting a GoPro adapter for it and using my son's GoPro. Whatta think?

I used to use a go pro. However, it does not zoom. Went to a small video camera.

I have for a couple of hunts know. Got some great footage, just haven't does anything with it editing wise, etc. I say that bc the lack of zoom makes it tough for good, clear use of it for shots that aren't right in your hip pocket. Doesn't add much weight and its real easy to turn on/off in hunting situations. It is def easy to setup and worth the try.

That said, I am working in rigging out for reverse angle shots with my GoPro!

A buddy of mine uses the GoPro-like camera from Utlimate Predator bc it has a zoom function in a small action cam format.

A couple years ago I used one in turkey season. Like XbowHunter so no zoom, so even at 15 yards it looks really far away. I mounted mine to my stabilizer.

I either have mine mounted on my hog light or clamped to my stand. I prefer the stand after shooting a few pigs with it on my bow. The footage is great, but does vibrate a bit at the shot.

Are you hunting from an enclosed blind? Several folks have good footage with the GoPro's.....Casey, Michael, several others. I place one GoPro on a tree facing the feeder that is at a different angle than my shot. One inside my blind facing me so it captures the draw. My video camera captures the shot on the animal. Like others have said....no zoom. This is why I utilize a video camera as well. You can be fairly creative with them.

I was going to try it next weekend for turkey. Ordering a gopro adapter. Not sure that I want to invest heavily yet. Could just be a fad.

I've watched all of Michael's videos. More than I want to do. And I might not like what I get with the gopro.

I hunted out of a popup last year. I was really late getting setup as the previous leasee hadn't move his equipment. I'll hopefully have some stands setup this year.

The best way to get good Gopro footage is to position the camera close to where you expect the animal to be when you shoot and use a remote to turn it on.

I've tried this a couple times. I could access the camera and control it with the Capture app. But it seems recently, after its sat turned off, the cam loses wifi ability and I can't control it from the app. That's no bueno. Not sure what is up.

My son's is a GoPro 3. He primarily uses it when we go skiing. And if he is using the wifi ability the battery drains really quick. Not sure if just his or that model.

I take a lot of pics with my phone when I'm pretty sure that I'm not going to shoot. Wanted pics of the other times (still alot of non-shots but hands on bow). And then actual footage of shots would be cool. Seeing the hit would be great, but if like yall say you need a zoom then that might not happen.

Yeah it works pretty good if you are able to stay on the animal and keep your bow as stable as possible after the shot. You'll see a lot of bow mounted GoPro footage that is absolutely hideous due to the shooter dropping their arm, etc. Again, I have my GoPro on the Narrow setting vs the wide setting. You can't hardly see anything like an animal on the wide setting.

I use a Tactacam on my bow. They are smaller and lighter and have a 3X lense on them so you can actually see what is going on. Both of these videos the elk were at 45 yards. Like skinny said....its hard to make sure you dont drop the bow after the shot, like I did!! Excitement does take over!!

This video was filmed entirely with a GoPro
