Buying a house to be moved

I have a lake lot that we are planning to build a small cabin on. Someone turned me onto the idea of looking for a house for sale that needs to be moved. I found some movers that have inventory that they sell for very cheap that includes the moving cost. Has anyone done this? What should I look out for?

I am not sure this is what I am going to end up doing, but its cheap enough that I have to look into it.

I've moved several that I turned into rent houses. Besides going over the house and looking for red flags, make sure there is no zoning restrictions on the move. Also the utility connections are expensive as well as a remodel. Just crunch the numbers for your budget and perhaps get some advise from construction guys on the possibilities. I've moved four houses and they all turned out to be good deals for me. Blessings

One other thing, if you do it ask the mover to not set the house up too high on blocks. I think they look more like a site built house if it sits more like a regular frame house. It's easier for them to set it up high on blocks , so that's what they often do. It kind if gives it the look of a mobile home if you set it too high. My 2 cents

My lot is on an angle so it would need to be higher in the back than in the front. Thanks for the info. That is what I was looking for

Does the movers your are looking at have website showing their inventory? We have some land outside of Nac that we have been thinking about putting a rent house on.

There is a guy in Henderson that has one listed. I'll try to find his name. The places I have found are in Houston
