Thinking of expanding a pond and was wondering what would be a good estimate to move 4 to 5000 yards of dirt. Current pond holds water and soil is capable of sealing and holding water. I thought the rule of thumb was a buck per yard. Is that still valid?

Where is this dirt located? I just built a gentlemen a 5ac fishing lake and moved about 50000 yards of dirt out of it to a local jobsite. I needed dirt and he needed a lake. It was a great deal for everyone. He saved a pile of money and so did I. If it's good select fill, or has enough clay to be mixed with sand to get select fill, there could be a market for it.
